Pakistan – Deafening Silence on the Intelligence Question

The President of Pakistan had an op-ed in the Washington post on Tuesday.  In it he defends Pakistan, arguing that they have suffered their share of terror at the hands of Al-Qaeda:

Some in the U.S. press have suggested that Pakistan lacked vitality in its pursuit of terrorism, or worse yet that we were disingenuous and actually protected the terrorists we claimed to be pursuing. Such baseless speculation may make exciting cable news, but it doesn’t reflect fact. Pakistan had as much reason to despise al Qaeda as any nation.

While what he says does have some merit, the Elephant in the room that remains unanswered is did or didn’t the Pakistanis know of Bin Laden’s whereabouts? And if so how and/or why did the Pakistanis not know or know and not act?  That’s the issue for which questions will continue to be asked, that the President does not address in his op-ed.
